LEITH VICTORIA AAC

FOUNDED IN 1919 || SCOTLAND'S OLDEST BOXING CLUB

Today we look at the fascinating and ongoing story of Scotland’s oldest boxing club with this smashing video made for the 100 Year Anniversary of the Leith Victoria AAC several years ago.

Since their humble beginnings in an ex-army hut in 1919 to a new equip and modern gym in 2021 they have continued to teach the noble art of boxing to thousands of young people.

The club boasts an impressive list of medal winners and Scottish Titles spanning the decades, from World Champions, European champions, Commonwealth Champions, Scottish champions, and District Champions beginning with Tancy Lee in 1915, right through to Megan in 2019.

Recently, Megan Reid has climbed to 5th in the AIBA (International Boxing Association) world rankings at 64kg !

Now there is an opportunity to get an up close look at the rich history of the club. After three years in the planning and the dream of Douglas Fraser(Secretary) Leith Victoria were proud to announce the opening of their Museum on the 7th July 2015. You can visit the museum in the Bell Gymnasium which is available for viewing on an appointment basis.

Leith for Ever was sorry to hear of the recent passing of Joe Fortune who, we understand, had an association with Leith Victoria AAC for an amazing 78 years. We would like to dedicate this post to his memory.
